Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice late to take a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
